Ezra Klein (one of my favorite follows on Twitter) posted some thoughts about Google+ vs Twitter, giving the nod to Google+. It's really not too surprising. He's a political writer and, as such, he'll want to be able to expand on his thoughts. Google+ gives him the space he needs for his thoughts and have conversations on it in one interface. Twitter just lets him post something simple and then link to his expansion on the subject. It's great, but Google needs to bake Blogger in with Plus and Reader, and allow people to post in any of those places, and anything that is posted to Public or a designated Circle goes on a page that can have a customizable, public facing template. It would be formidable competition to Tumblr, but most importantly, it would be a huge step towards consolidating our online thoughts. As much as I think that Circles fragments our lives, incorporating these products would actually allow Circles to do what it's supposed to do in the first...

And so begins a new feature that I call Ask A Reid, where I answer questions from people I know about the dorky-but-useful stuff on the interwebs, and put it here for other people who may want to know the question/are bored and will read anything. Answer: Well, you can't do multiple Twitter accounts with a single email address, but there's an easy way around it: Gmail lets you filter emails just by adding a plus sign to your gmail username. So you could sign up for one Twitter account with fakeaddress@gmail.com and another with fakeaddress+twitter2@gmail.com . You can put whatever you want between the + and the @. My shiny new iMac arrived on my doorstep last week (in spite of Fed Ex's inability to deliver it to the correct address), and I started up the Mac migration assistant to pull all the files and settings from my laptop, but...well, long story short, I decided to just start completely fresh: install the programs as I need them. It's a decision that's made my new computer surprisingly fun, even if it's made me swear angrily at it more than a few times as the judgment of the iSight beats down on me as if to say THIS IS THE LIFE YOU CHOSE. It's been interesting to me to see what downloads I went to first; a clear indicator of what's most important to me on my computer. I moved over my iTunes library first, and then got to downloading.
